Things always seem to take longer than planned or expected. I am still going full steam ahead with the machine build. It has not been without its challenges, however.
My health has been a limiting factor. Here I am trying to build a piece of fitness equipment and yet I have been unable to get regular workouts in and have also had a few major health setbacks in the last several weeks making the work, which is physically challenging for me under good circumstances, even more difficult.
Because I am working with a less than optimally equipped shop, I make up for it with a bit more effort but with the first major rheumatoid arthritis flare that I have suffered since going gluten free six years ago, these last two weeks have been severely limited as to work done.
Nonetheless, I press on. I have been doing this build a bit differently from past machine builds and am being much more thorough with prep of parts. By the time I am ready to do the welding of all the parts, that will mean the machine is almost completely done.
Yes, it is taking more time, but the little delays have allowed for time to re-think certain methods and systems and to make improvements before the final fittings.
I hope to have a picture of the frame in relatively complete form the next time I check in. I also hope to get a few workouts in once I recover a bit. As a result of the flare and accompanying complications I have lost a fast ten pounds in the last two weeks.. or should I say “weaks.”
Ironic, I suppose.
